The Woodruff family and the auction business have been synonymous for over 50 years. In the late 40’s Merlin Woodruff graduated from Repperts Auction School to make his mark as an auctioneer, although Merlin sold a wide variety of auctions he quickly became most noted for selling livestock. Merlin sold several major livestock sales throughout the United States and hundreds of farm sales across the Midwest.
With the second generation of auctioneers ready to make their mark, Todd Woodruff graduated from the Missouri Auction School in 1988. With the guidance and experience from Merlin, Todd quickly became a seasoned auctioneer also having the opportunity to experience a wide variety of auctions. Although livestock and farm equipment auctions are still a favorite they are not as abundant as they once were. In 1994, Todd had the opportunity to be introduced to the wholesale auto auction industry which offers many similarities to a livestock or farm equipment auction. With the life long experience in the auction business, an on-going transportation enterprise, and a working knowledge of selling automobiles to an internet audience, combining the past, the present, and the future seemed to be a logical step.
With the rising cost of transporting equipment to an auction, the time and travel investment of buyers to get to the auction site, with no guarantees of success, we feel it will be more efficient for us to do the traveling for both the buyer and the seller.
We at Woodruff Enterprises Inc. have first-hand knowledge of the challenges involved in buying or selling equipment. Woodruffs currently operate a fleet of specialized transportation units along with years of experience in grain and livestock production. With that experience gives us an understanding of what’s important to a buyer or a seller. By combining the auction method of marketing, with the convenience and exposure of the internet makes this method advantageous to both parties.
